An error occurred while saving the comment Steve commentedI think a good EN sync (with ENEX being the ONLY REAL OPTION if you want to keep the correct formatings ect) is ESSENTIAL for at least those big 2 groups of users:
-Like me, using EN to clip content/make notes/Sync mobile and Tagspaces to get this data organized later
-Newbies coming from Evernote, most of them are too afraid/upset seeing the missing sync option, that they turn back to EN or OneNoteTagspaces is unbelievable, and i searched for such a app for years. But i think this is one of the features that will decide if it can play a major role, or is just another half way done try at PIM/DMS/PKM/Libary/File-Management software.

An error occurred while saving the comment Steve commentedAs i do many ppl use Thunderbird, so it would be much better to find a way for both (and maybe other important apps too) to be in sync.
For thunderbird i found a small hack, havent Tested it yet, but it should work:
Install "Import Export tools" extension, with it you have unbelieveable options for exporting single, multi and all files at one, in all common file formats!!
You can directly export it to a import folder of Tagspaces, and done! -

An error occurred while saving the comment Steve commentedYeah, some kind of importing function from both chrome and firefox. I think this would be a total winner for many ppl that havent been interested in Tagspaces before..
I am also too for Michaels idea of including the meta data and favicons! -

An error occurred while saving the comment Steve commentedThis would be great, with FTP/LAN/WEBDAV support!!
But what about the OwnCloud version. This should be usable from different devices shared or am i wrong??Steve supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Steve commentedFor Document, audio/Photo/media files, the files own meta data would be a great source!
Havent tested yet if this works now, but this would be great, and a logical step.. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Steve commentedYeah, i dont think the edit mode has any real disadvantage compared to viewer. And maybe for some it is not needed, but many ppl, me included, also use it for note-taking/PKM/Ect. and it is EXTREMLY annoying to waste time again and again by 2 unnessecary clicks (As when first clicked, a file isnt opend directly, and another click is needed; Then i do need another not really nessesary click to edit it). In Evernote i do need one click compared to 3 here.
This may look like something not really essential, or that i would be lazy or so, but for PKM and note taking/management issues this is a major concern, and the votes on this issue prove its importance i think..
Please just add a option to decide if you want to SELECT a Note by one click AND if you want to EDIT it then DIRECTLY too! -

An error occurred while saving the comment Steve commentedCool Hack for windows path length limits..
But maybe a special file inside a directory can work too. Ect. one can define a special tagging file, for example:
If Tagspaces finds a file with a special extension, e.g. "*.tstf" for Tagspaces Tag File, then it would recognize this as a file with all meta data to the dir. The "*" in the name would be the first Tag, and then inside this as "*.txt" coded file, the tags would be seperated with a "#" or else.
Just an idea, for those who need many tags, or have many sub dirs, or dirs with longer names.
Of course i am no programmer, so please understand if this is just an idea and i am wrong with the technical possibility of it. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Steve commentedI like the UI very much, but i like ribbon style when done right and flexible very much too.
Maybe this is something that can be done if and when the UI is anyway worked over for the next big version. But i dont think it is a major issue, better would be to optimize the current UI:
Like with some of my and other RQSTs:
-Right click context menu on files and dirs
-One click files opening option
-Direct Editing when opened for document files
Ect.. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Steve commentedEspecially for large amounts of files with a high percentage of untagged files this is a must!
Hope it is planned soon.. -

PS: For more details: The announced editing function of ODT files does not work in that way, that it just looks like the viewer, and you cant change nothing. Only the "edit" icon turns to "save" icon, but thats it. No more changes/reactions of the whole UI.
To my small MS Office workaround: AFAIK this only works WITH MS Office installed too. It doesnt need to be opened parallel, but it has to be installed. I dont know with version of MS Office and windows provide this API for the Internet explorer, and which IE version is needed.
But i guess google can help, and if needed a closer look at UltraRecall, the windows app that gave me the idea!
Kind regards,
Steve
