  1. Add option to hide "hidden" files/folders

Besides the common files like desktop.ini and default.rdp, some users will mark a file as "hidden" so it doesn't show up. There are others who will want to see their hidden files (maybe in a different color) so I do recommend leaving this as a toggle option but it's definitely something I would like.

  2. Allow the Web Clipper to save screenshots and URIs

It would be great if the Web Clipper could be upgraded with two features: saving of the URI only and saving of a screenshot of the actual page. Similar functions are implemented in the Evernote Web Clipper and I think they are pretty useful!

  4. Add a Notecard Perspective

I'd like to see a modified Grid Perspective wherein a preview or thumbnail of the contents of a text file is displayed. Maybe we can call it Notecard Perspective (we can work on the name). Currently the Grid Perspective only shows the filename. The preview pane does help. But a Notecard Perspective will allow for quicker browsing and selection. Combined with tagging and filtering, it would be like bringing a better Google Keep functionality for those of us who like control over their own notes via text files.

  5. Create 'QuickTag' Groups and/or be able to select multiple tags at once

When you want to add multiple tags to a file or files, right now you have to individually select each tag and apply it to the file. I think what could be more efficient is to create 'QuickTag' groups that would allow you to apply every tag in the group to a file or files. This could make it much easier to apply commonly used tags. Another approach would be just to add a function to the current 'Tag Group Operations' menu to apply all the tags in that Tag Group to the file or files. Alternatively, you could accomplish…

  6. Make it possible to open files natively in a single action and expand the key bindings

One of the things I dislike the most about TagSpaces currently is that in order to view a file that isn't supported by the internal file viewer (and quite a file formats are not supported right now), you have either open the 'File Operations' menu and select 'Open File Natively' or open a preview of the document and then select 'Open File Natively'. I think you should be able to make a key binding for 'Open File Natively' as you are currently able to do with a variety of other functions in TagSpaces. In fact, now that I think about…

  7. Be able to move and copy files internally within TagSpaces

Right now, in order to move or copy files from one directory to another, you have to use the 'Move or Copy Selected Files Function'. Then, you have to select a destination directory using the default file manager for the files to be moved or copied. I think it would be preferable to have the capacity to move the files without relying on the default file manager and using TagSpaces only. For instance, being able to drag and drop the files from the right-hand pane into the directories listed on the left-hand pane. Or, adding 'Paste' and 'Cut' functions to…

  8. Be able to delete and rename entire directories.

I noticed just recently that you can't delete entire directories (i.e. folders) without emptying all the files out of them first. Tagspaces throws an error "Deleting failed. Directory probably not empty" when you try. As I am a big believer that in order to be successful Tagspaces needs to basically be a fully functional file manager, this seems like a important feature to include.

  9. Tag hierarchies.

    Your product has great potential.

This is an extension to the tag hierarchy suggestion. The tag hierarchies should be multi-dimensional......i.e., tags should be able to be present in several hierarchies and the user should be able to navigate the hierarchies. Example:

    Hierarchy 1:
    Accounting
    Receipt
    Quote

    Hierarchy 2:
    Project
    HW (hardware)
    1-prj-name
    2-a-hardware-prj
    Software
    1-prj-name
    2-prj-name

    Hierarchy 3:
    Tax-Doc
    Yes
    No
    Maybe

    Hierarchy 4:
    Date-Time

The user needs an interface to create and manage the hierarchies.

to assign tags to file the user types only enough characters to resolve the tag at the current level of the hierarchy. Example:

    User…

  10. Access to Boxcryptor on an Android device

I have a lot of files in my Dropbox encrypted with boxcryptor. On my Windows PC the access to the files and the tagging are working great. But how can I access the files on my Android?

  11. Adding tags "in-line"

It would make the workflow a lot faster if the user were able to click a textbox inlined with tags over preview pane to add/edit tags instead of having to always use the pop-up window for tag editing.

  12. Allow the user to move the tagging window

WHen tagging PDF files, the tagging window frequently blocks text in the PDF viewer, making it more difficult to decide which tags to use.

  13. Make it possible to adjust the size of the left panel

As far as I can tell, currently the width of the left hand panel is fixed. This can cause a problem sometimes with longer folder names. I would like to see it made possible to adjust the width of the left hand panel at will.

  14. Make it so Tagspaces remembers all tags, not just the ones in the tag groups

As far I can tell, right now Tagspaces only 'remembers' tags that you have manually added to the tag groups. This means that when you go to enter new tags, it will only recall tags that are already in the tag groups. I would like to see Tagspaces be able to recall all previously used tags, not just the ones in the tag groups, when you go to add new tags to a file.

  15. enable Tagspaces to tag and launch applications in Mac OS

In Mac OS, its impossible to tag or launch applications with Tagspaces, as it sees them as directories instead of executable programs. I don't think this problem exists on Windows OS. It would be nice to be able to do this, as I believe Tagspaces needs to have all the capabilities of the standard file browsers.

  16. Custom Insert-Code Button in RTF Editor

Create a wizard or menu item so the user can simply add a custom "insert html code" button in the RTF editor.

I can currently add a checkbox to a line in my notes by switching to "code" mode and adding "<input type="CHECKBOX">". It would be faster if I had a custom button that inserted this code. Maybe a checkbox button should be standard in the RTF editor, but why stop there?

Why not just give everyone the ability to add a custom button that inserts whatever code they want? Then I could make my own checkbox button and we…

  17. Don't reinvent the wheel! Use metadata systems that work!

Your application has great potential. But...

Do not use the file name to store metadata! File names should not contain any user generated information. Storing metadata has numerous problems: security, privacy, non-portability, just to name a few.

If you are going to support every kind of file, then you should use what is already there. Audio, video, image and document files already contain metadata. You have to read that metadata and import it to your application. Don't force the user to reenter all of it.

Besides format specific metadata, there's also multiformat metadata. It's called XMP. It's even an international…

  19. OCR-Engine Integration - Make PDFs searcheable, Autoconvert Pics to PDF, Ect.

As there are many free and OS libarys for OCR available, this would be a great and very promising feature!
For larger amounts of PDFs/Scanned Documents in picture file formats, a batch/bulk OCR and pic to PDF conversion would be essential, especially for the many ppl here who want to use it as DMS!
A full text search function can integrate with this OCRed content!

  20. Document Management - Converter: (Batch-) Document Converter

A document conversion tool would be awesome, with support for multi formats like PDF, Open Document Files, RTF, Markdown, DOCX, Doc, TXT, and between the different Codings Unicode ect.
Batch conversion of huge sizes of files, dirs with sub dirs ect. would also be a massive plus.
