did you have a chance to take a look on the webdav edition of TagSpaces which works well with ownCloud?

Great idea! I was also thinking in this direction. Actually I was wondering if is not a better idea to add webdav support to tagspaces. In this case tagspaces will access all services supporting webdav and not only owncloud. But if you really want to do a owncloud app, please contact me at ilian@tagspaces.org for more details.

TagSpaces was started as a multiplatfrom application, trying to create a meta layer across different operating systems. That's why concentrating on this specific tagging for Mac OS is not currently in the focus of the project.

Hi,
I was also thinking about a similar solution for this issue. Basically I want to add a json file containing the taggroups in the root of a location, which then can be synced between the devices...

Edit / Save mechanism should be redesigned soon. I am also not happy how it currently works. Some users are suggestion auto save functionality, what do you think about this?

Currently you can ignore the unix hidden files (.) by deactivating a setting in the options dialogs called "Show files/directories with a dot(.) in front of the name (e.g. Unix, Linux, OS X hidden files)" in the general tab. I will think about adding of the possibility to add a regex for file exclude.

currently you have a context menu for every file, you just have to click on the file extension. Tagging of directories is currently not implemented, because it will make the length of the file paths longer. The file path is limited on windows to 256 chars ...

Hi,
thank you for your positive feedback for the project, and please excuse my late response. I personally will prefer for add tags for Blood sugar as blood-sugar, but I can not dictate your workflow.... The good news is that in the current release you can exchange the tag separator with some other character like ",". This can be done in the options and then tab "experimental". Please note that the options found here are really experimental and not widely tested. The bad news is that if you try to add a tags with a space in the dialog it will automatically be splitted in two words. But this can be fixes in the next version. As workarround for this issue I can suggest you to add the tag blood-sugar and then edit it to blood sugar.

Although, some file format like jpeg supports adding of comments, this could be interesting feature for tagspaces.

This is currently not possible because tagspaces does not use database and there is currently no way except the tags/filename to add metadata to the documents.
I think, not using a database is one of key advantage of TagSpaces, because so your files and their metadata is not vendor locked.

This is a known issue in the chrome version of TagSpaces, see https://github.com/uggrock/tagspaces/issues/14, caused by a bug in the underlying library for IO access. In the firefox version and the upcomming native apps for android, windows and mac, this issue does not appear...

I am also missing this feature. Actually the first releases of tagspaces were with a tree, but I removed it because the tree was difficult to operate with on a touch device. I am currently searching for alternatives...

This feature could make sense for a server/hosted version of tagspaces. In this case you can simply login to your dropbox and browse your files, like in owncloud...

Hi Sam, thanks for your contribution. Honestly, I am thinking since a long time in this direction. I am calling tags with a special business logic behind, smart tags. And the first step in this direction was the adding of the tag group "Smart Tags", which contains tags such as today, now or yesterday. You could definitely expect more from this in the upcoming releases. In your case, it will interesting to have a special perspective for handling of warranty tickets, which could implement this kind of tracking of the expirations...

In the upcoming 1.8.5 version, when you create a new file (txt,html,md) it will be opened directly in edit mode.
For my understanding it does not make sense to open the html, md and perhaps txt files by default in edit mode, because in most of the cases the users just want to preview the content and not edit it.
