I don't think you grasped the point of the poster. Sure you can link to another file (so long as the file is in the same directory as the existing note, or subdirectory.

The op is stating the ability to link from one NOTE to another NOTE. Not as a file, either, because if this is performed, it opens it in an external editor. TagSpaces needs this feature as it allows seamless navigation to other notes which could be based on topics. Using links in this fashion is possible in other similar projects, and its important as it allows immediate references to other ideas, etc encapsulated in notes.

I should also add that there should be no restriction to this linking to the same directory or sub directories only. This should be able to be reached from the root of the notes location, as that ensures that it is portable from host to host.

I want to pre-acknowledge the effort that this will involved due to the choice of storing tags in a file name, because if filesystem references are used in a manner similar to file:// html like links, this will be challenged everytime a tag is added to a file. This should bring attention to the design idea for using the file name as a place to store tags.

So what does this mean? Perhaps put this feature in the pro version only noting it has the ability to use side files for storing tags.

I can link to another page at least using markdown, however, upon clicking, TagSpaces doesn't open it but it reverts to the md text editor configured in preferences. It seems that logic would be reinvestigated in letting TagSpaces handle such and just opening the file.
