Just READ id3tags, exifs, etc. would be enough i want. For editing/writing this metadata there exists a lot of nice other tools. But for a fast search for files by id3tag the information must be stored in a database probably...

ConfyKni has suggested that this might be more complicated that it seems on the surface. A step in the right direction, that could help a lot of people out before this is fully implemented, would be to allow accessing the OS' native info/properties panel for the file from within TagSpaces.
Perhaps parsing EXIF etc. natively might not even be necessary, if it can be done via querying the OS' file APIs.

It would be nice to have image metadata view/edit, however, there is not a simple standard and it is quite complicated to get the things properly done (synchronisation of EXIF vs IPTC vs XMP, whereas XMP are defined individually by many image cataloguing apps like digiKam, darktable, Adobe Lightroom, etc.).
In my experience, so far it is the best the use _only_ one app to modify the metadata, otherwise things get screwed easily. -

On a related note (maybe this should be its own suggestion) I would love it if there was an option for files that support exif data (like jpgs) for the tags to be written both to the filename as well as the exif data. That way if I looked at the jpg in a tool that supports tagging via exif data I can still see my tags.

Oh my... TagSpaces being able to read the EXIF and IPTC metadata on my photo would be a GAME CHANGER! I cannot stress how useful this feature would be.
