My feedback
Hello, I would just like to give my feedback in hope that some features may be added.
When opening TagSpace, the location navigator and list perspective are default, so I need to always change it to tag library and grid perspective. It's not a real problem but it remembering your configuration would be nice. Also, the "collected tags" tag group recreates itself on each startup.
Grid view appears to be sorting images by name, which is problematic because TagSpace modified the filename, so whenever you reopen it, the images are moved around.
I've had a serious problem with this, however now I know how to prevent it, it's mandatory to add tags BEFORE changing the filename youself, I've changed the name of two pictures then added tags to them, the tags didn't apply, so when I tried to find them in the folder itself, I could only do so with their new names,
-I remebered the name of one, so I searched and found it in TagSpace to add tags to it again
-however, I did not remeber what name I gave the second one and whitout tags, I completely lost it, the only way to find it now, is to browse picture by picure until I see it and I have about 6,000 of them...
It would be crucial to be able to sort files with another criteria, I would want them to appear in the same order an in their folders, so sorted by "Date created, descending order" in my case, that way wheverever the name of a file is changed, it would remain in the same place and order in the grid.
It would be nice when seaching to be able to both include AND excluse tags. (For example, I want all pictures with "apples" but they must not have "oranges")
A question not a suggestion, but is there a way to save all of TagSpaces settings if my computer crashes? If I backup the images themselves for example, they will still have their tags, sure, but if I can't backup Tagspace itself, then all my tag lybrary, groups, colors will be lost.
Sometimes, when previewing images, there will be two previews for some reason, clicking it again fixes this.
It would be nice if thumbnail size in grid view, as well as preview size to be adjustable.

To reduce lag I started using the list perspective instead of the grid, it helps but not a lot.
I'm not sure I understand the problem, before TagSpace I used Windows Photo Gallery with the same folder and there was no lag whatever, it even had thumbnails visible. I don't want to go back to photo gallery for various reasons, my point is that I don't know why Tagspace lags so much, it's not my computer either, it's strong.
I'm using the 2.4.0 latest version, if it's configuration issues how can we troubleshoot the problem?
I'm not sure how I will organise my files into folders, It's one of the reason why I wanted to use tags anyways...
Thanks for answering back

Hi,
TagSpaces was never intended to work with 4000 files in a single directory. This amount of files is challenging even Windows Explorer or Macs Finder. The apps works smoothly with up to 1000 files. If the files are images, it tries to generate thumbnails of visible images in the perspective, so if you have a directory with 1000 files it will generate thumbs only for visible ca. 20 images. If your images very big this takes some time. In the PRO version the tags are generated and persisted, so if you open a directory again, it will load the generated thumbs and this is very fast. Here I can only advise you not to have so many files in single directory, just split them in subfolders.
TagSpaces does not reload the files on tagging, here you are using probably an older version and have some configuration issue.
As of the file renames, we are currently not able to reproduce this issue.
kind regards,

10. I'm sorry, I'm really trying to use this software for tagging files but it's just not workable...
EVERY TIME you add a tag, move it, remove it, change anything, the ENTIRE DIRECTORY RELOADS!
You lose track of the file you are working on since they are sorted by name and since tags are names, it moves them around when reloading the directory
I tried limiting files loaded to only 10 in the settings, however, this is pointless because when you're done tagging those first 10 pictures, you can't just load another 10, you can only load the entire directory, so I go from 10 pictures to 4156, then I add a tag, it reloads the directory to 10 files, then I expand it again to 4156, it's horrible
because it loads about 4,000 files everytime, the software lags extremely, less when you're working in the tag library itself but when the directory or image preview, it takes several seconds for anything to respond
You can't rename a file prior to adding tags, otherwise the tags won't apply, despite the software not updating and appearing to work fine
If two or more files have exactly the same name, they don't get renamed, they disappear
On the surface it appears to work fine but in reality TagSpace is really not workable, it feels like it's still in production, still incomplete and in the end I really can't use it, I'm sorry
I got the free version because I wanted to try it out first, I would pay for it but in it's current state, I won't, but will if you do something about these problems

Thank you very much Ilian for answering all my points!
I didn't know you were in vacation, my bad, I apologise if I sounded rude in my last post.

To point 1: Currently you can set a default perspective for a given location, in the location edit dialog. We can add a checkox in the settings to open the tag library by default.
To point 2: Adding sorting capabilities to the grid perspective is a good suggestion.
To point 3: An AND search criteria is already on our todo list.
To point 4: Currently you can export only the tag groups from the tab general in the setting, later you can use the tag import functionality in the tag group menu to import them.
Point 5: this is known issue, we are trying to find soon a solution for it.
To point 6: We will think about implementing this feature.

To point 8, we are working on a feature which will provide default colors for a given tag group, so every new tag in this group will have these colors per dafault on creation.
To point 7, this is for sure a feature we will have to think about, you not first one mentioning the need for it.

Hello,
our team was in vacation, so we were not able to respond to user feedback, with the needed speed. Please excuse use. We are very thankful for you feedback!
To point 9, changing the tag order is already implemented and can be initiated from the context menu of every tag in the list perspective or in the file viewer. You will find there command such as "Move tag to left".
kind regards,

9. It would help being able to move tag order within a file, the only way to do so now is to delete the tags and re-apply them in the order you want
By the way, I would really appreciate any kind of response to the feedback I'm giving, if you don't care, at least tell me

8. If you've changed the tag colors based on tag groups (ex. a tag group being red, another blue), when you create a new tag, it won't be the same color as the others, it will always be the default green. It would be nice if when creating a new tag, it's the same color as the other ones in the group.

7. It would help to be able to search for images that do not have tags, in order to find them more easily for tagging
