Add file extension as a group
In addition to the tag based grouping options I suggest that you add the file extension into this group selector. Quite often I would like to review my files based on the file type (or extension), so to easily group by this would be a nice feature

User defined date tags
User defined date tags (not system created or modified dates). Selectable from pop up calendar, combined with the ability to filter/search between two dates.
This would be good for any date specific uses like orders and projects.12 votes -
GTD - Getting Things Done
IT would be great to have a set of folder already arranged with the GTD : Inbox, Today, Next, Someday, Scheduled and Waiting. Of course with a management of a to do list with same aproach and allarms or move task/subfolder to the "Today" folder.

Allow tags to be added by dragging and dropping over the preview window
It would be really nice if we could drop tags onto the previews themselves to add tags to them, rather than just the narrow box above the preview.

Drag a file to application or foder
As we can drag file from a folder and drop in top a app making the file to open or to a folder making a copy, etc, I like to see the same functionality here.

Allow user to use external tools
Hi,
Thank you for this wonderful app!It would be great to use external tools to manipulate files, via "actions" created by user. For example, a user could create an action named "md2pdf" to convert markdown file to pdf using Pandoc. Or a "rotate" action using imagemagick to… rotate pictures.
We can find this possibility in several file managers, like SpaceFM and others…

link local images to html files and preview them
I would like to link local images to local html files. Not to embed them. Also I would like to view these linked images inside the html documents in preview mode.

File ownership based tagging, rating open to all
To create a searchable repository of files that are contributed by a large set of people, it is useful to allow the owner of the file to add tags (as the owner knows what the specific file tags should be) and the ratings can be by anybody.

Make GIfs work in the HTML rich text file
Gifs do not play when they are embedded in html rich text file, and html text file also doesn't have thumbnails even if they had some images inside, and also it would be great if we could enter descriptions in the image files (gifs too) i'm trying to build a visual library, that would make things a lot easier.

How to get version control ?
I find version control essential to have peace of mind. I would ideally want tagsapce to make a backup of my latest changes in case I make a poor manipulation.
I don't expect Tagspaces to implement any soon - plenty to do already- but I was wondering if there would be a third party solution for doing that. Has anyone done it? what tool do you use?
This FR is also a suggestion for a blog post on the topic to help others build that perfect stack of software for note management :) Thank you

Provide a Tag Cloud for searching tagged files
I tried TagSpaces today and I think you have the beginnings of a great program with the exception of the search mechanism. I've been using file tagging software for nearly ten years and I've learned that the search mechanism is the most important part. The best implementation I've used is in Tag2find http://www.tag2find.com/. Unfortunately, Tag2find is no longer maintained and won't work on the 64-bit version of Windows 7. I've also tried Tagged Frog and I currently use Tagg Tool.
I suggest you download and install Tag2find on a 32-bit Windows computer, tag a bunch of files, and try…

Quick access: Right click integration and tagging after downloading
Hello there. So, I had two ideas to make it easier to quickly access the functionality of TagSpaces. First, it would be very convenient if you could right click on any file and select the option to immediately open TagSpaces with that file selected and ready to be tagged. In other words, adding in some sort of quick tagging function that can be used outside the TagSpaces GUI. Second, it would be helpful if there were some way to automatically open a file in TagSpaces after downloading it online, either with the stand alone application or the plug-in version. That…

Difference between Tag Name AND File Tag
I think if the program has this feature that we can define tag name independent from the tag that add to the end of file name in windows system, it becomes very practical and more useful.
For instance, we can define a tag name "LIGHTING AND LAMPS" that also puts in a specific tag group like e.g "MODELS AND OBJECTS TYPE" and also we can add another parameter in the time that we define the tag name e.g "{LIT}" in tag define window. so in the Tagspace program we see the name "LIGHTING AND LAMPS" in the tag tabs but…13 votes -
Resizeable Text and Themes!
Either support the system-wide font settings, or at least support resizing text within the program. The text is too small for me, and of course system settings are that way for a reason for anyone. They should be used where possible. Right now there is a vast amount of white space that seems to be wasted, possibly for aesthetic reasons over usability. You should also allow for themes, since the default is too bright for me and, I'm sure, many others. Take care of these two issues, as well as refraining from altering filenames, and you'll have yourself a winner!

Provide docker distribution
I would like to try out (and possibly use) TagSpaces, but deployment is unexpectedly entangled. I would like to see a (set of) Docker image(s) one can use to deploy tagspaces more easily (and isolated).

Allow the Web Clipper to save screenshots and URIs
It would be great if the Web Clipper could be upgraded with two features: saving of the URI only and saving of a screenshot of the actual page. Similar functions are implemented in the Evernote Web Clipper and I think they are pretty useful!

Support symlinks
Hi,
I’ve just tested out the app and it looks absolutely great! I’ve just noticed that it doesn’t handle symbolic links.
As soon as I open a folder which has a symlink inside, a preloader pops up and wouldn’t go away. Symlink files are listed as subfolders. When I click any of these “subfolders” an alert appears saying “The desired path could not be opened.”
Unfortunately it makes the app unusable for me – I manage my files with git-annex which uses symlinks extensively.
I’m using Fedora 22 x64.

Tag hierarchies.
Your product has great potential.
This is an extension to the tag hierarchy suggestion. The tag hierarchies should be multi-dimensional......i.e., tags should be able to be present in several hierarchies and the user should be able to navigate the hierarchies. Example:
Hierarchy 1:
Accounting
Receipt
QuoteHierarchy 2:
Project
HW (hardware)
1-prj-name
2-a-hardware-prj
Software
1-prj-name
2-prj-nameHierarchy 3:
Tax-Doc
Yes
No
MaybeHierarchy 4:
Date-TimeThe user needs an interface to create and manage the hierarchies.
to assign tags to file the user types only enough characters to resolve the tag at the current level of the hierarchy. Example:
User…
